John Wilbye, English 16th-century madrigal composer, was born probably at Bury St Edmunds, but a details of his life come obscure.

The placed of madrigals by him appeared around 1598 and a second around 1608, the two sets containing sixty-4 pieces; & from either two or three contributions known to use at times been mass produced by him to more contemporary sets, you may infer that he was alive within 1614.

He is the best known of all the English madrigalists; his pieces st& yearn been favourites and come involved within modern collections.
